The Aloof Director, 2001, 16mm B&W, 12 min.

The Aloof Director sips capuccino in a breezy outdoor cafe, in the company of a beautiful woman, to whom he pays no attention. Meanwhile, an actress agonizes alone in the darkness of the rehearsal hall, struggling with her upcoming performance. Her director, unconcerned, peruses an Italian racing form through dark glasses. The story springs to life when the actress collapses, overwrought with artistic tortures and seemingly abandoned by The Aloof Director. Ultimately her performance is a success, and the absent Aloof Director appears suddenly to take her applause and accept the audience's roses.

A comical tribute to European film makers of the 50's and 60's such as Federico Fellini and Jacques Tati, The Aloof Director was shot without sound, with an original musical score.
